Using different calculation methods , the center of Rhineland-Palatinate in the local community of Bärenbach in the Rhein-Hunsrück district was calculated in 1982 .

Geographic center

The determination of the geographical center of Rhineland-Palatinate was carried out by the State Office for Surveying and Basic Geographic Information . Using three methods, the center point was 49 ° 57 '18.5' 'north latitude, 7 ° 18' 37.5 '' east longitude. Coordinates: 49 ° 57 '18.5 "  N , 7 ° 18" 37.5 "  O . On December 1, 1982, the then Prime Minister Bernhard Vogel officially declared Bärenbach to be the geographical center of the country, and since the inauguration on July 23, 1983, a stone slab has marked the place at the edge of the forest, 600 meters north of the town and about two kilometers from Frankfurt Airport Tap removed.
