The Mitterwöhr is an elongated Isar island in Landshut between the Isar on the right and the Kleine Isar on the left and between river kilometers 74.3 and 71.2, in which area it drops from 390 to 384 meters above sea level. The uppermost part is still in the area of Landshut's old town. From there the island extends downstream into the Peter and Paul district . Podewilsstraße forms the border between the two districts.

At the northeastern end of the Isarspitz, where the small and large Isar flow together again, is the Mitterwöhr sports and recreation park with a campsite and boathouse for the rowing club.

Above the Isar island Mitterwöhr there are two more Isar islands, the Mühleninsel and the Hammerinsel . The three islands appear on the map as an elongated island between the two arms of the Isar, but are separated from each other by narrow watercourses. The border between Mitterwöhr and Mühleninsel runs along the watercourse immediately below the Johann-Weiß-Weg, which branches off to the left from the Great Isar at the height of the Maxwehr. The Beckmühle, which burned down in 1972, stood on this mill stream. The area is now used by a parking lot.
