The Mittlere Kiliansteich was a reservoir near Straßberg in Saxony-Anhalt . It was an earth dam with a core seal. The bush trench was dammed .

Description & history

The pond was built in 1703/04 under the direction of Georg Christoph von Utterodt . The dam height was about 5 m, the size of the storage space 75,000 m³. The bottom outlet was designed as a wooden channel . The pond was provided with a harrow shaft. The water level was at 433  m above sea level when the water level was full NN .

The pond was used as an artificial pond until 1876 and then fell into disuse. The dam broke during floods in 1944 and was never rebuilt. In the course of the construction of the Kiliansteich dam , the pond was abandoned, the remains of the dam were removed and the pond was flooded by the dam after the construction was completed.
