The Mittweidauer FC 1899 was a football club in the German Empire based in what is now the Saxon city of Mittweida in the district of central Saxony .

history

Foundation and first years in the Gauliga

The club was founded in 1899 and for the 1908/09 season the team rose within the Central German Football Championship in Gau III - South West Saxony . This season the team was able to finish first in the same season, but the runner-up Chemnitz BC qualified for the final round of the championship . In the following seasons, the team did not get beyond second place. In the 1914/15 season, which was not played completely due to the war , the club was awarded the title of Warmaster of its Gau on November 29, 1915. However, a championship final was not played.

Biggest success in the championship

At the end of the 1915/16 season, the team within Season A of the Gau Südwestsachsen came regularly to first place and had to play in a decider on February 20, 1916 at FC Hohenzollern Chemnitz , the game was 4: 1 lost, but the game was scored for Mittweida for an unknown reason, so the team was again Gaumeister. This decision was made after the final of the Gaume Championship in southwest Saxony had already run on February 27, 1916, this game was also won by SV Teutonia Chemnitz 5-2. After Mittweida was established as the correct master, the game had to be repeated on March 28, 1916. This time, SV Teutonia just lost the game 1-0. In the subsequent championship round, the team was able to prevail first against VfB Glauchau and then against the defending champion of SpVgg Leipzig-Lindenau . Only in the second intermediate round was the later champions FC Eintracht Leipzig over with a 7-0 defeat. In the 1916/17 season, the team withdrew from association games in November 1916.

Return to the association games

From the 1920/21 season at the latest , the team took part in the game again, this time in the district of central Saxony . At the end of this season, however, the team was only in last place. The team won this place in the following seasons. After only the last place was reached again in the 1923/24 season , the team had to compete in a relegation game against the winner of the 2nd class, VfL Hohenstein . The team was able to win the game 11-0 and thus remain in the upper house. After the next season, which again ended in last place, the team had to finally relegate.
