Miwa Ota (born December 13, 1968 in Niigata Prefecture ) is a former Japanese cross-country skier .

Career

Ota had her first international success at the 1990 Asian Winter Games in Sapporo . There she won the gold medal with the relay. The following year she won the gold medal at the Winter Universiade in Sapporo over 10 km classic, 10 km freestyle and 15 km freestyle and the silver medal with the relay. She completed her first World Cup races in December 1991 in Silver Star , which she finished in 63rd place over 5 km classic and 54th place in the pursuit. At the following World Cup in Thunder Bay , she achieved her best placement in the individual world cup with 32nd place over 5 km freestyle. She ran her last international race at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville . There she finished 43rd place over 5 km classic and in pursuit, 41st place over 30 km freestyle and 12th place with the relay. In the Japanese championships in 1988 she won over 10 km and in 1991 over 10 km classic, 10 km freestyle and 15 km.
