Mizuki Kawashita

Mizuki Kawashita ( Japanese 河 下 水 希 , Kawashita Mizuki ; born August 30th in Shizuoka , Japan ; also Mikan Momokuri ( 桃 栗 み か ん , Momokuri Mikan)) is a Japanese manga artist and illustrator .

Career

From the early 1990s, Mizuki Kawashita created illustrations for the boys love magazine June . In 1993 she brought out the Dōjinshi Innocent as an amateur draftsman. Professional comic publications followed from 1994 under the pseudonym Mikan Momokuri for the Shūeisha publishing house. Her first series, Kōkō Danshi - Boys , appeared in his manga magazine Office You from 1994 to 1995 , which she designed based on a scenario by Sakura Kai ( 花衣 沙 久 羅 , Kai Sakura ).

In 1997 she wrote Sora no Seibun , a boys love manga about a love affair between two men, before she started working for Bouquet magazine in 1998 . In this magazine she published the series Akane-chan Overdrive and Kaede Taifūn . In Akane-chan Overdrive is about a teenager who dies by stumbling over a bottle, but still gets a chance to live when his brain in a girl's body is implanted.

While the illustrator had drawn all of the Shōjo and Josei mangas she had drawn up to then as Mikan Momokuri for a female readership, she turned to a male audience for the first time in 2000 with her series Lilim Kiss as Mizuki Kawashita. This Shōnen manga about a young person who discovers an attractive she-devil who can only stay alive if she kisses boys regularly was featured in the manga magazine with the highest circulation, the weekly Shōnen Jump , until 2001 .

Kawashita achieved her greatest success with the comic 100% Strawberry , which was published in Shōnen Jump from 2002 to 2005 . This love comedy about a boy in the midst of several girls was implemented as an anime television series and translated into several languages. The 19 anthologies of the manga sold over five million times.

In addition to her work as a cartoonist, she also illustrates books by authors such as Satomi Kikawa and Kana Hibikino .
