100% Strawberry ( Japanese い ち ご 100%, Ichigo 100% , German: Strawberry 100% ) is a manga series by the Japanese illustrator Mizuki Kawashita , which appeared for the first time from 2002 to 2005. The manga, which includes about 3,400 pages, was as anime - TV series and OVA implemented.

100% Strawberry is about a boy who cannot decide between four girls with whom to enter into a relationship and who repeatedly gets into unpleasant situations. The work is aimed primarily at a young, male readership, so it can be assigned to the Shōnen genre. It can be classified into the genres of romance , action and comedy .

In the 3rd grade of middle school, Junpei Manaka sees a girl on the roof of the school. He then confesses his love to Tsukasa Nishino, the prettiest girl in school. Since Nishino is in love with Junpei, she accepts the declaration of love. However, it soon turns out that the girl is not Nishino, but the shy Aya Tojo.

When Junpei and his classmates pass the college test for Izumizaka high school, Nishino decides to go to a girls' school. At the new school, Junpei meets Satsuki Kitaoji, who falls in love with him and reveals it publicly. However, he has to fight with Amachi, because he already declares his love for Tojo in his first lesson. Meanwhile, Yui, an old friend from elementary school, shows up. With the newly founded FIFO (Film Research Club) he goes to several camps in the summer and makes films because he wants to become a director one day. In the process he meets Misuzu Sotomura, the sister of a classmate and Chinami Hashimoto.

When he goes to a drum school with Tojo after the holidays, the shy male Kozue Mukai appears in his life. Because Junpei is the only one she can talk to, she falls in love with him. However, Junpei is confused and irritated.

Publications

100% Strawberry was published in Japan from February 2002 to August 2005 in individual chapters in the manga magazine Shōnen Jump . The Shōnen Jump was the manga magazine with the highest circulation at the time and was the carrier of series such as One Piece and Naruto . The Shūeisha publishing house brought out these 167 individual chapters in nineteen anthologies. These had sold around five million times in Japan by 2006.

The manga is also published in Spain, Italy, Argentina, Taiwan, Germany and the USA. The German translation of the anthologies has been published by Tokyopop Verlag since April 2006 . So far, 19 volumes have been published in Germany.

The animation studio Madhouse produced under the title Ichigo 100%: Koi ga Hajimaru !? Satsuei Gasshuku - Yureru Kokoro ga Higashi e Nishi e ( い ち ご 100% 恋 が 始 ま る!? 撮 影 合 宿 ~ ゆ れ る る コ コ ロ が 東 へ へ 西 へ ~ ) five anime episodes based on the manga. The first appeared in September 2004 as Original Video Animation (OVA) directly on DVD. The other four followed over the next year.

Madhouse took on the production of 26 additional episodes of 12 minutes each. These were designed as a television series. Directed by Osamu Sekita , the character design was created by Kiyotaka Nakahara and Artistic Director was Shinobu Takahashi. The television station TV Asahi aired the series from April 5 to June 21, 2005, always two episodes in a row. The last two episodes were not broadcast.

The series was broadcast in Spanish by Animax in Latin America.

The music in the series was composed by Takayuki Negishi. The opening credits Shine of Voice comes from dream, for the credits the song Ike Ike from Hinoi Team was used.

The music of the OVA was composed by Hikaru Nanase . The opening title was Kimiiro 100% by Nana Mizuki, Megumi Toyoguchi, Sanae Kobayashi and Mamiko Noto, the closing title for the 1st episode Jink White ( ジ ン ク ・ ホ ワ イ ト ) by Mamiko Noto, for the 2nd episode Daigyakuten Kiss ( 大逆 転 Kiss) by Megumi Toyoguchi, for the 3rd episode Kokoro Capsule ( コ コ ロ カ プ プ セ ル ) by Nana Mizuki and for the 4th episode Platonic Scandal ( プ ラ ト ニ ッ ク ・ ス キ ャ ン ダ ル ) by Sanae Kobayashi.

In 2004 Shūeisha published two light novels by different authors. Furthermore, a radio play series appeared on eight CDs. In 2005 a computer game was released for the PlayStation 2 .
