Ken'ichi Suzumura

Ken'ichi Suzumura ( Japanese 鈴 村 健 一 Suzumura Ken'ichi ; born September 12, 1974 in Niigata Prefecture ) is a Japanese voice actor ( seiyū ) and singer. He belongs to the Arts Vision agency .

He trained as a voice actor at the Nihon Narration Engi Kenkyūjo . In 1994 Suzumura made his debut role in Macross 7 . His most famous roles include Hikaru Hitachiin in Ouran High School Host Club , Shinn Asuka in Mobile Suit Gundam Seed Destiny , Sogo Okita in Gintama , Lavi in D.Gray-Man , and Ryutaros in the Kamen Rider series Kamen Rider Den-O . Mostly he is called by his fans and other seiyū colleagues Suzu, Muraken (especially by Seiyū colleague Sōichirō Hoshi and other fans) and Suzuken. He is currently also part of the seiyū group STA MEN along with Jun'ichi Suwabe , Daisuke Kishio , Hiroki Takahashi , Hiroyuki Yoshino , Makoto Yasumura and Kosuke Toriumi .

On August 8, 2011, he married his colleague Maaya Sakamoto .

Suzumura has started a singing career since 2008 and is under contract with Lantis . As a solo artist, he writes his own songs. Among other things, he has published several CDs in the past in connection with radio programs that he moderated. In addition to being a solo artist, he has also been publishing CD albums and singles with his colleague Iwata Mitsuo under their group name CONNECT since 2009 . Trivia

  • Suzumura occasionally works with Seiyū colleague and friend Takahiro Sakurai , including since 2003 as co-host of the radio program Cherry Bells .
  • He is also friends with his Seiyū colleagues Hiroki Takahashi and Mitsuo Iwata , with the latter he has co-moderated the radio show Sweet Ignition since 2003 .
  • His younger brother Masaki Suzumura works in the film industry and has guest appearances on various seiyū radio shows with Ken'ichi Suzumura. The fans were surprised at how similar the two sounded, only that Masaki's voice was a bit higher.
  • Suzumura grew up in poor conditions. In his childhood, his family traveled a lot to various parts of Japan, including Niigata, Osaka, Okayama and Fukuoka . Although he lived in Osaka for some time, his kansai-ben is not perfect. However, you will notice a certain accent when he speaks normal Japanese.
  • He's an excellent cook. He was in the process of earning a chef license when he went to an audition and was selected.
  • He loves dogs and has two named Ivy and Momo.
  • As a child, he suffered from severe asthma attacks. To improve his breathing technique, he practiced the martial art of Aikido for 5 years .
  • In December 2003 he cycled 200 km for Radio Osaka from Nagoya to Osaka in about 24 hours and 30 minutes (including time to sleep, rest and eat). His arrival in Osaka was broadcast live on the radio.
  • He had a cameo in the movie Kamen Rider Kiva: King of the Castle in the Demon World and one in the music video "Sakuraimichi" of Ghost Note .
  • Suzumura has already been on stage for numerous events and group concerts with other seiyū colleagues, but he gave his first solo live tour in January 2010 in Osaka (January 10, 2010), Nagoya (January 11, 2010), Yokohama (23 January 2010) and Tokyo (January 31, 2010).
  • According to a national survey (March 2010) that determined the most popular seiyū, Suzumura and Mamoru Miyano took first place in the ranking of male seiyū.
