Hiyokoi ( Japanese ひ よ 恋 ) is a manga series by Moe Yukimaru that was released in Japan from 2009 to 2014. It was adapted as a film and translated into several languages.

The 15-year-old girl Hiyori Nishiyama ( 西山 ひ よ り ) had to stay at home for a long time due to an accident shortly before the start of high school. When she finally comes to school for the first time at the end of the year, she is shy and afraid of contact with the other students. This fear also made her delay her return to school as long as possible. Because of her very small stature, some in the class laugh at her, including the very tall Yūshin Hirose ( 広 瀬 結 心 ), who is also sitting next to her. Although her classmates don't mean it, Hiyori is even more insecure. Her sandpit friend Ritsuka Nakano ( 中 野 律 花 ), who goes to the same class, and Yūshin try to cheer Hiyori up, which they finally manage. And through Yūshin's care and affection, Hiyori eventually falls in love with him.

The series was published in Japan from November 2009 to November 2014 in Ribon magazine published by Shueisha . The chapters were also brought out collected in 14 volumes ( Tankōbon ). Most recently, the new volumes sold over 90,000 times in the first few weeks after publication.
A German translation has been published by Tokyopop since July 2015 ; the manga series is completed with 14 volumes. Panini began producing Italian and French versions as early as 2012 . Sharp Point Press translates the series into Chinese.
Anime adaptation
In 2010, Studio Production IG directed a 22-minute short film directed by Norihiro Naganuma , the plot of which includes the first chapters of the manga. The screenplay was written by Tomoko Konparu and the responsible producer was Jōji Wada . The character design was created by Yuka Shibata .
The film was initially shown at a number of Ribon magazine events , the first in Tokyo on July 30, 2010. This was followed by screenings in Osaka and Nagoya . Finally, the anime was released on DVD along with an original video animation for the manga series Yumeiro Patissiere .
