UFO Princess Walküre ( Japanese 円 盤 皇 女 ワ る き ゅ ー レ , Yūfō Purinsesu Warukyūre , dt. "Imperial Disk Princess Walküre") is a manga series by the Kaishaku group of artists , which appeared in Japan from 2002 to 2007. It has been adapted several times as an anime television series and original video animation and can be classified into the genres of science fiction , comedy , magical girl and harem . The western publications were given the title UFO Ultramaiden Valkyrie .

Valkyrie , princess from the planet Valhalla , crashes with her spaceship on earth and destroys the bathhouse ( sentō ) of Kazuto Tokino. He has just taken it over from his grandfather and wants to continue - against the wishes of his parents - but has little luck. Now the house has been destroyed by the crash, just like himself. But Valkyrie saves his life by giving him part of her soul. Only with half a soul does she become a child again, so that Kazuto and his friends now have to take care of her while they rebuild the bathhouse and look for a way to help Valkyrie get back to her old body. Since the princess is being searched for, soon more spaceships crash in the neighborhood and the group of those who take care of Valkyrie grows.

The series was published from 2002 to 2007 in the magazine Monthly Shonen Gangan the publisher Square Enix . This brought out the chapters in 11 anthologies. A four-volume edition was published by Media Factory .
Anime adaptations
The first anime adaptation of the manga for Japanese television was made at Studio TNK in 2002. The implementation was under the direction of Shigeru Ueda based on the concept of Ryōe Tsukimura , who also wrote the scripts. Only the script for the fourth episode was written by Yōji Enokido . The character design is by Maki Fujii and artistic director was Emi Suzuki . The 12 episodes of 24 minutes each were shown from July 4 to September 19, 2002 by Kids Station in Japan. ADV Films licensed the anime for an English dubbed version that was released on DVD and streamed on The Anime Network . A Spanish translation was also shown on television.
The first original video animation for the franchise was released on August 23, 2003 with UFO Princess Walküre: Special . Directed by Tetsuya Yanagisawa . This consists of a summary of the first season and a new episode.
A second season, directed by Nobuhiro Takagi , called UFO Princess Walküre: Jūnigatsu no Yasōkyoku ( 円 盤 皇 女 ワ る き ゅ ー レ 十二月 の 夜想曲 , "~: December Nocturne ") with 12 episodes was also from Shown October 4 through December 20, 2003. The second season, like the first, was also used in English and Spanish.
On December 22, 2004 UFO Princess Walküre was released , which is a summary of the second season, and came with a radio play.
With UFO Princess Walküre: Seireisetsu no Hanayome ( 円 盤 皇 女 ワ る き ゅ ー レ 星 霊 節 の 花嫁 , Ger . "~: Newly wed bride of the star spirit melody ") a second OVA was released between May 25 and October 25, 2005 six episodes. Finally, exactly one year later, a third anime was published as OVA: UFO Princess Walküre: Toki to Yume to Ginga no Utage ( 円 盤 皇 女 ワ る き ゅ ー レ 時 と 夢 と 銀河 の 宴 , dt. "~: Time, dreams and Galactic Banquets ”) with two episodes directed by Nobuhiro Takamoto . Like the television series, the OVA was also published in English and Spanish.

The music for the series and the OVA was composed by Kenji Kawai . The opening credits of the first season is Itoshii Kakera ( 愛 し い か け ら ), that of the second Meguriai ( め ぐ り 逢 い ) by Melocure (Ritsuko Okazaki and Megumi Hinata). For the credits, the songs Save ( セ ー ブ ♥ , Sēbu ) in the first season and Marble ( マ ー ブ ル , Māburu ) in the second season, except for the last episode, were used, both composed and written by Megumi Hinata, and sung by Hisayo Mochizuki, Chinami Nishimura, Rie Tanaka and Saeko Chiba. The last episode of the second season used All in All by Melocure.
The second OVA received the opening song Natsu no Mukōgawa ( 夏 の 向 こ う 側 ) by Megumi Hinata and the final title Uchū no Hana ( 宇宙 の 花 ), composed and written by Joe Rinoie, and sung by Kikuko Inoue, Mai Kadowaki and Yū Asakawa for the first five episodes and Anata no Hanayome ni Naritai ( あ な た の 花嫁 に な り た い ) sung by Megumi Ogata under her role name for the last episode. For the third OVA, One Kiss was sung by Yūko Sasaki for the opening credits and the song Sorekara ( そ れ か ら ) sung by Ken'ichi Suzumura in his role for the credits.
reception
According to Anime Encyclopedia , the concept is strongly reminiscent of other series in which girls who have fallen from the sky also crowd around the protagonist, such as in the several years older Tenchi Muyō! and Tetsuwan Birdy .
