biography
Masumi Itō started playing the piano at the age of 6. Originally she wanted to be a classical pianist, but after listening to YMO she moved on to jazz, rock, punk and other contemporary music. She was also heavily influenced by Kate Bush . At the height of the New Wave , she turned to the then modern "organic music".
She graduated from the Musashino Academia Musicae with a degree in piano .
While she uses the name Masumi Itō as a singer, she uses the pseudonym Hikaru Nanase ( 七 瀬 光 , Nanase Hikaru ) for compositions of instrumental pieces for anime soundtracks . Under this she was involved in more than 1000 plays.
She was a member of several groups, such as Ikuru ( イ キ ル ), midori , AQUA VOCE (together with Yōko Ueno , Megumi Maruo and Reichi), Oranges & Lemons (together with Yōko Ueno), Mariaria ( マ リ ア リ ア ; together with Isako Saneyoshi ) and Heart of Air .
