true tears is a Ren'ai adventure that was developed and published by La'cryma , an association of Broccoli , Circus , GameCrab and the mangaka Rei Izumi .

The plot of the game focuses mainly on the romantic relationships between the actors. It was sold in Japan on March 31, 2006 for PC on DVD. A manga based on the plot of the game was released on December 10, 2005 before the game was released. A completely redesigned anime series, with the same title, aired on Japanese television in 2008 . The topic was also taken up in the form of two radio plays and two Internet radio broadcasts.

action

While the plot of the manga is closely related to that of the game, the plot of the anime is hardly based on either of its predecessors. So even the main characters were swapped and replaced by others.

Anime

The high school students Shinichirō Nakagami ( 仲上眞一郎 , Nakagami Shinichirō ) has artistic skill and lives with his family in the prefecture of Toyama . He lives there with his parents and the student Hiromi Yuasa ( 湯 浅 比 呂 美 , Yuasa Hiromi ). Hiromi, who attended the same school as Shinichirō, moved into the Nakagami home after her father passed away. At the beginning of the plot she has been living there for a year, but makes a very depressed impression on Shinichirō when she is at home. At school, on the other hand, she is very well known, has a sporting talent and often seems to be in a good mood. Shinichirō, who has known Hiromi for a long time, finds this very strange, but doesn't dare to talk to her about it.

One day he meets the strangely known girl Noe Isurugi ( 石 動 乃 絵 , Isurugi Noe ) at school, who is two classes below him. When they first met, she was sitting up in a tree and no longer knew how to get down. As a result, she lets Shinichirō catch her. After the hard landing, she shows him two chickens. One of them, which she calls Naigomaru , is said to have the ability to fly, while the second chicken, Jibeta, is said not to be able to do so because it does not try to fly. Although Shinichirō initially thinks she is completely crazy, he can't stop thinking about her and visits the hen house again with her. Once there, they discover that Naigomaru has been attacked by a raccoon and can no longer be found. Despite her grief for the animal, she never sheds a tear as she has lost the ability to cry since her grandmother passed away.

From this moment on she constantly runs after Shinichirō to give him the birdseed instead of Naigomaru. His school friend Miyokichi Nobuse ( 野 伏 三代 吉 , Nobuse Miyokichi ) finds this quite strange, but takes it with humor. The two often meet in an Imagawayaki shop, where Aiko Andō ( 安藤 愛 子 , Andō Aiko ), who has already left school, works as a saleswoman. She is in love with Shinichirō, but he does not know anything about it and his also unsuspecting friend Miyokichi tries to get closer to her.

Meanwhile, Shinichirō's relationship with Hiromi deteriorates as she is courted by Noe's brother Jun Isurugi ( 石 動 純 Isurugi Jun ). It appears that three relationships will develop that neither Shinichirō nor Aiko will be happy with. As a result, there are various confrontations between the characters, the focus of which is Shinichirō. Ultimately, Shinichirō decides for Hiromi, whom he can only win over after extreme commitment and whose relationship has been on the brink for a long time.
