KKPA Works ( Japanese 株式会社 ピ ー エ ー ワ ー ク ス , Kabushiki-gaisha Pī Ē Wākusu , English PA Works Corporation , short for Progressive Animation Works ) is a Japanese animation studio . It is headquartered in Nanto , Toyama Prefecture , Japan .
history
The studio was founded on November 10, 2000 by Kenji Horikawa, a former employee of Production IG and Bee Train , under the name Etchū Dōga Hompo KK ( 越 中 動画 本 舗 株式会社 ). On January 1, 2002, the studio was renamed PA Works . Since then it has repeatedly been involved in productions of the former studios as a contractor and contributed animations to computer games. It wasn't until January 2008 that the studio produced its first independent series true tears . Since then it has produced successful series such as Canaan (2009) and Angel Beats! (2010).
