Moïse Saucier
Moïse Saucier (born October 1840 in Montreal ; † August 24, 1912 there ) was a Canadian pianist, organist and music teacher.
Saucier was a piano student of Paul Letondal and continued his education from 1865-66 in Paris with Camille Stamaty . After returning to Canada, he performed as a piano soloist with works such as the Fantasies by Sigismund Thalberg , Rondos by Carl Maria von Weber , Scherzos by Frédéric Chopin , sonatas by Ludwig van Beethoven , piano pieces by Louis Moreau Gottschalk and piano transcriptions by Stamaty. He worked as an organist at various churches in Montreal, including 25 years at St. Joseph , and in the early 1870s he became a member of the Académie de musique du Québec . Marie-Thérèse Brazeau , Euphémie Coderre and his son Joseph Saucier were among his students .
