Moʻungatapu is a small island in the center of Tongatapu in the Pacific . Politically, it belongs to the Kingdom of Tonga .
geography
The Motu is located in the center of the archipelago in the southeast bay of the lagoon Fangaʻuta Lagoon . The island is opposite Holonga (Tatakamotonga) in the south and connects to the headland of the Tungi Estate . The islet of Ngofonua is even further inland .
climate
The climate is tropical hot, but is tempered by constantly blowing winds. Like the other islands in the Tongatapu group, Mo'ungatapu is occasionally hit by cyclones .
