Moe Howard

Moe Howard (real name Harry Moses Horwitz; born June 19, 1897 in Bensonhurst , New York , † May 4, 1975 in Los Angeles ) was an American comedian and actor and the central figure in the comedian troupe The Three Stooges .

Life

Moe was born the fourth son of Jennie Mary (1870-1939) and Solomon Nathan Horwitz (1872-1943). His brothers were Irving (1891-1939), Benjamin Jacob (1893-1976), Shemp (1895-1955) and Curly (1903-1952).

He was married to his wife Helen from 1925 until his death and was the father of two children, Joan and Paul. Moe Howard died of lung cancer on May 4, 1975 at the age of 77. He was buried in the Hillside Memorial Park Cemetery in Culver City .
