Mogens Ludolf Fog (born June 9, 1906 in Copenhagen , † July 16, 1990 ) was a Danish doctor (neurologist), politician ( Danmarks Kommunistiske Parti from 1959 of Socialistisk Folkeparti ), resistance fighter and rector of the University of Copenhagen .

During the German occupation of Denmark in World War II, he played an important role in the Danish resistance . In 1942 he was involved in founding the underground newspaper Frit Danmark and in 1943 in founding the Danish Freedom Council ( Frihedsråd ), a bipartisan governing body of the Danish resistance. He was co-author of the resistance program When Denmark is Free Again of November 1943. In October 1944 he was arrested by the Gestapo and was able to escape in March 1945 after the British air raid on the Gestapo headquarters in the Shellhaus in Copenhagen.

After the war he became a minister in the interim government of Vilhelm Buhl and a member of parliament from 1945 to 1950. In 1958 he left the Communist Party because of the Soviet persecution of the Jews and the suppression of the Hungarian uprising and founded the Socialistisk Folkeparti with Aksel Larsen the following year.

From 1966 to 1972 he was rector of the University of Copenhagen, where he promoted democratization during the student movement of 1968.
