Mohamad Ahansal

Mohamad Ahansal (born January 1, 1973 in Zagora , southern Morocco ) is a Moroccan long-distance runner and five-time Marathon des Sables winner. His older brother Lahcen Ahansal (* 1971) even won ten times (1997 and 1999 to 2007).

In 1998 he won the 137 mile (220 km) long Marathon des Sables in the record time of 16:22:29 hours, the current Guinness world record for the fastest desert crossing .

In 2008 he won the Marathon des Sables again. This time, with 245.3 km the longest MDS in history, in 19:27:46 hours.

In 2009 he made the double and won the 24th Marathon des Sables . At 91 km, it was the longest single stage of all time, which he won in 8:08:22 hours.

In 2010 he completed the hat trick and took the third win in a row.

Ahansal lived in Ingolstadt and started for MTV Ingolstadt . At the beginning of 2011 he returned to his Moroccan homeland.
