Mohamed Ali Alhakim ( Arabic محمد علي الحكيم Muhammad-Ali al-Hakim , DMG Muḥammad ʿAlī al-Ḥakīm , born July 1952 in Najaf , Kingdom of Iraq ) is an Iraqi diplomat and politician. He has been his country's foreign minister in the government of Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi since October 25, 2018.

Life

Mohamed Ali Alhakim is studying at al-Mustansiriyya University in Baghdad . He obtained a Masters of Science & Technology of the University of Birmingham and was at the University of Southern California in the subject Management of Engineering (about: Industrial Engineering ) PhD. He participated as an entrepreneur and consultant in the reconstruction of the country and was a. a. Iraqi Minister of Telecommunications. From May 3, 2013 until his appointment as Foreign Minister, he served as Permanent Representative of Iraq to the United Nations . Before that he was Permanent Representative at the United Nations Office in Geneva ( Switzerland ) from 2010 to 2013 . At times he was also the representative of Iraq at the World Trade Organization and the WHO .

On April 13, 2017, he was appointed Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for West Asia by United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres .
