Mohammad Ali Amir-Moezzi
Mohammad Ali Amir-Moezzi (born January 26, 1956 in Tehran ) is an Iranian scholar of Islam and religion who lives in France and specializes in Shiite theology . In Paris he graduated from the Institut national des langues et civilizations orientales and received his doctorate in Islamic studies from the École pratique des hautes études and the University of Paris III . He is directeur d'études at the École pratique des hautes études (EPHE; Section des sciences religieuses, Sorbonne), where he holds the Chair of Exegesis and Theology of Shiite Islam ( Exégèse et théologie de l'islam shi'ite ). Its study department is the only one devoted to Shia in the western academic world .
He is a member of the Accademia Ambrosiana in Milan , as well as editor and one of the main authors of the Dictionnaire du Coran , which was published in Paris in 2007 in the Editions Robert Laffont . He is the founder of the sub-series Histoire et prosopographie de la section des sciences religieuses of the Bibliotheque de l'École des Hautes Etudes series . Among his works is the work Le voyage initiatique en terre d'Islam. Ascensions célestes et itinéraires spirituels (1996).
