Mohammad Reza Schafi'i Kadkani , also written Mohammad Reza Shafii Kadkani , Mohammad-Resā Schafi'i-Kadkani etc., ( Persian محمدرضا شفیعی کدکنی; * 1939 in the village of Kadkan near Nishapur / Khorasan Province ), is a Persian literary scholar, poet of modern poetry and translator and commentator of classical texts. His pseudonym is M. Sereschk (German "tear").

life and career

Mohammad R. Shafi'i began his religious studies in Mashhad and later received a PhD in Persian literature in Tehran , where he taught as a university professor. His poetry shows clear influences from Hafis and Maulana . Kadkani has lectured at Oxford , Princeton and Pennsylvania Universities .
