Mohammed Sanusi Barkindo (born April 20, 1959 in Yola (Nigeria) ) is the current Secretary General of OPEC .

Barkindo is from Nigeria and studied at Ahmadu Bello University , Oxford and Washington University .

Since 1992 he worked for the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation . From 2009 to 2010 he was the OPEC representative for Nigeria. On August 1, 2016, he was appointed General Secretary of OPEC.
