Mohsen Faraji (born February 21, 1980 ) is a former Iranian soccer player .

Career

Faraji came to Austria from Bargh Jadid Shiraz FC in 2005 to join Bundesliga club VfB Admira Wacker Mödling . First he made his debut in August 2005 for the Admira amateurs in the Regionalliga when he came on as a substitute for René Messinger on the fourth match day of the 2005/06 season against SV Donau Wien in the 52nd minute.

In September 2005 he finally played his first game in the Bundesliga when he was in the starting line-up against SK Rapid Wien on matchday nine of that season and was replaced by Daniel Wolf in the 64th minute . In the same month he scored his first goal in the Bundesliga in a 2-1 defeat against FK Austria Wien .

In April 2006, on matchday 32, Faraji was not in the squad against FC Wacker Tirol and watched the game from the stands. After the end of the game he ran onto the field and kicked the Tyrolean player Andreas Hölzl with a bruised elbow. As a result, Faraji was banned from the Bundesliga for 20 games. This was only the second ban in the Bundesliga over 20 games, only Friedrich Hieß was banned for just as long in 1976 after a punch.

Without Faraji, Admira was relegated from the Bundesliga at the end of the season. After the suspension expired, he played eight games for the club in the second division . After the Admira had been revoked after the 2006/07 season, he left the club.
