Mokhtar Arribi

Mokhtar Arribi (born February 24, 1924 in Sétif ; † September 4, 1989 ibid) was an Algerian football player and coach.

Athletic career

Arribi played for various clubs in the French colony before moving to France in 1946, where he played for the two-time champions FC Sète for the next eight years , interrupted by a year-long stay at AS Cannes in Division 2 in 1951/52. In 1954 he went to RC Lens , a year later he returned to North Africa and played for the Club Sportif de Hammam-Lif . In 1957 he returned briefly to France to lead the fortunes of Avignon Football as a player-coach .

In the spring of 1958 he fled to Tunis to join the FLN football team. After Algeria's successful independence from France in 1962, he stayed there and coached various clubs. He worked for ES Sétif several times and briefly coached the Libyan national team .
