Molde Domkirke
The Cathedral Molde (norw. Molde Cathedral ) in Norwegian Molde is the Lutheran bishop Church of the Diocese of Møre , located in the province of Møre og Romsdal .
The church, constructed by Finn Bryn , was completed in 1957 after an architectural competition announced in 1948. Concrete served as building material. In 1983 it became a cathedral with the establishment of the Møre diocese. It is the fourth church at this point. All of the previous ones burned down.
The architect refers to the Gothic , but it is a functionalist, modern church. Next to it is a 50 m high, free-standing bell tower with a pyramid roof. In it there is a carillon with 26 bells. The interior is richly decorated and has stained glass by Oddmund Kristiansen . The rose window was designed by architects of the cathedral. The ceiling was painted by Sverre Lura and Roy Augustin . A ship from 1661 hangs from the ceiling and probably comes from the first church. The altar by Stinius Frederiksen was already in the previous church. The painting “Woman at the Grave” (1887) is by Axel Ender . The altar cross from 1661 was also in the old church. In the interior of the 65 m long and 25 m wide church there are around 900 seats available.
organ
The current organ was built in 1999 by the Austrian organ building company Rieger from Schwarzach . The instrument has 50 stops on three manuals and a pedal .
