Molly Rankin (singer)

Molly Rankin (born July 27, 1987 in Nova Scotia ) is a Canadian musician . She is the singer of the indie pop band Alvvays .

Life

Rankin grew up as the daughter of the musician John Morris Rankin († 2000) in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia. As a child, she learned to play the violin, but she denies having become a musician because of her family background, rather she wanted to become a veterinarian.

Act

Rankin was initially active as a singer in the band Two Hours Traffic and sang on their 2009 album Territory . In 2010, her solo EP "She" was released.

She is co-founder of the Canadian rock band Alvvays , with whom she has released two studio albums to date. The band's sound is now referred to as Fuzzpop, Dreampop and Surfpop. In addition, she was involved in productions by other bands as a singer; so she sang the title Attention Seeker on the album Reminisce by the Canadian band Etiquette and the harmonies on the album Love by Taylor Knox. She was involved as a background singer on the album The Great Scam by Admiral Freebee .
