Mon Dyh was a blues rock band from West Berlin .
history
Created in the context of the rock-against-right movement in 1978, Mon Dyh played straight blues rock in English, contrary to the prevailing music of the Neue Deutsche Welle . The band gave their concerts mainly in clubs, youth homes, at non-commercial or self-organized festivals. In 1980 the album Murderer, produced and published on their own initiative, was released . Despite the lack of ties to an established label, the LP sold successfully, so that Mon Dyh released her second album, Confused Mind, just a year later - again on its own . The third and final long-playing record Am Galgen was released in 1983 on the small label Woolfe Records. This time the album was sung entirely in German. Financially this record turned out to be a flop. A short time after its release, Mon Dyh broke up, but not only because of the low success of Am Galgen , but also because of uncertainties about the future musical direction and the fear of stagnation. In the early 1990s and again in 2002, all three of the group's albums were re-released on CD by Green Tree Records.
Mon Dyh was also known in the GDR , especially in the blues scene . The underground band Freygang covered a number of Mon Dyh tracks such as Murderer , Confused Mind and Salvador .
