Mona is an American rock band from Nashville , Tennessee, founded in 2007 .
Career
The band members are from Dayton , Ohio and Bowling Green , Kentucky, but live together in Nashville . The band name goes back to the grandmother of lead singer Nick Brown, who was called Mona. After two guitarists proved unsuitable, Jordan Young was finally able to fill the position.
In 2010 they won the Brand New for 2011 award at the MTV Awards . In 2011 they released their debut album Mona , which reached # 39 on the UK Albums Chart . In the same year, they received a nomination for the BBC's Sound of 2011 .
The band's second album, Torches and Pitchforks , was released in Germany on July 23, 2013, but failed to repeat the success of the debut album.
Singer Nick Brown also released an EP ( EP No. 01 ) in 2012 , which was created in collaboration with Kings of Leon bassist Jared Followill. The side project is called "Smoke & Jackal".
