Mondo mio!

The Mondo Mio (spelling mondo mio! ) Is a children's museum in the Westfalenpark of the city of Dortmund , North Rhine-Westphalia. The museum opened on May 26, 2007. The patron is UNICEF .

In essence, Mondo Mio goes back to the EXPO 2000 exhibition “Basic needs” by the Indian scenographer Rajeev Sethi . On his travels around the world, Sethi had collected typical artefacts and dioramas on the subject of “basic needs”.

The state of North Rhine-Westphalia bought parts of the EXPO exhibition and transferred them to the city of Dortmund, which together with the association “Aktion- und Spielpädagogik Dortmund e. V. “developed a presentation concept.

There are around 30 interactive stations on the topics of cultural identity and communication, light and sound, consumption and waste, life and death, landscape design and natural elements.

This exhibition is permanent and is located in the Florianhalle of the Westfalenpark in Dortmund.
