Monie Ralph Captan

Monie Ralph Captan (born May 28, 1962 in Monrovia ) is a Liberian politician , university professor and editor of a newspaper. He was Foreign Secretary in the Charles Taylor Administration from 1996 to 2003 .

Life

Born in Liberia, Monie R. Captan is the son of a Lebanese immigrant and businessman, his mother is a Liberian. Monie R. Captan spent childhood and youth in Monrovia , he first completed a commercial training.

Monie R. Captan was one of the youngest professors at the University of Liberia when Liberian President Charles Taylor appointed him to his cabinet in 1996 as Minister of Presidential Affairs and then Foreign Minister (from 1996 to 2003); Monie R. Captan was one of the few ministers outside of Taylor's National Patriotic Front of Liberia (NPFL). He succeeded Momolu Sirleaf in office.

After the Liberian Civil War , he resumed teaching and is Professor of International Relations at the Ibrahim Babangida School of International Relations at the University of Liberia. The businessman and newspaper editor was elected President of the Liberian Chamber of Commerce on March 16, 2010.
