The Mersch railway station is the station of Mersch in the same canton in Luxembourg.
history
The station was built in 1862. This year the first part of the Luxembourg – Spa railway line , the connection from Luxembourg to Ettelbrück , went into operation. In 1876, among other things, the tower was added to the station building, and in 1910 the building was expanded again.
From the year 2000 a pilot project to improve the Luxembourg train stations was started in Mersch. In addition to the construction of two underpasses and general renovation, refurbishment and improvement measures, this led to the installation of a passenger information system. In addition, bus drivers whose line begins at the train station are informed of train delays via a satellite-based system. You will also be told whether to wait for the delayed train to ensure the connection. This project is intended to be a model for all railway stations in Luxembourg.
service
In 2011 the station will be served by over 110 trains every day. The capital Luxembourg can be reached in 13 minutes. There is a bus station with five bus platforms in front of the train station. In addition to the train, there is also a 10 to 20-minute bus service to Luxembourg and Ettelbruck from Mersch station .
