Niederkaufungen is one of the two districts of the municipality of Kaufungen in the northern Hessian district of Kassel .

Geographical location

Niederkaufungen is located in the Losse valley between the Kaufunger Forest and the Söhre , into which the Setzebach flows directly below the village and flows along the western edge of the village . A little northeast of the village in the geo-nature park Frau-Holle-Land (Werratal.Meißner.Kaufunger Wald) lies the Steinertsee . Within the municipality of Kaufungen, Niederkaufungen meets Oberkaufungen in the east and, a little further away, the paper mill in the west .

Niederkaufungen has a train station on the Kassel – Waldkappel railway line (built in 1879/80), where the Kassel tram also stops. Bundesstraße 7 runs south of the village on the German Fairy Tale Route .
