Monika Brunert-Jetter (born November 17, 1955 in Wennemen ; † September 6, 2017 ) was a German politician ( CDU ). From 1995 to 2012 she was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia .

Life

Monika Brunert-Jetter worked as a librarian before her seat in the state parliament. In addition to politics, she was President of the Association of Libraries in North Rhine-Westphalia since 2006 . She was also a member of the state board of the German Forest Protection Association in North Rhine-Westphalia and a member of the board of trustees of the North Rhine-Westphalia Art Foundation . In addition, she was active in the Friends of Königsmünster Abbey and on the advisory board of the Abbey's upper school academy, an initiative for the advanced training of upper school students in the region.

She was married and had three children. Brunert-Jetter died in September 2017 after a long, serious illness.

politics

Brunert-Jetter joined the CDU in 1974 and was from 1974 to 1976 chairwoman of the Junge Union in the local branch of the former municipality of Calle . From 1988 to 2000 she was deputy chairwoman of the CDU municipal association of Meschede and from 1996 to 2005 deputy chairwoman of the CDU in the Hochsauerland district and from 1997 to 2011 deputy chairwoman in the CDU district of South Westphalia (formerly CDU district of Sauer-Siegerland). Since 2001 she was a member of the state executive committee of the CDU North Rhine-Westphalia.

From 1989 to 2004 she was a member of the City Council of Meschede.

In the regional elections in 1995, she moved on June 1 for the parliamentary constituency III Hochsauerlandkreis - one Siegen-Wittgenstein I in the 12th parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia. She repeated this election success in the state elections in 2000 and again won the direct mandate for the constituency.

After the reorganization of the state electoral districts for the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2005 , she obtained the direct mandate in the newly formed constituency Siegen-Wittgenstein II , which includes the municipalities of Bad Berleburg, Bad Laasphe, Erndtebrück, Hilchenbach, Kreuztal, Netphen and Wilnsdorf. In the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2010 , she returned directly to the state parliament for the Siegen-Wittgenstein II constituency, but missed re-entry into the state parliament in the early state elections in 2012 and was subject to SPD candidate Falk Heinrichs .

In the 15th electoral term she was spokeswoman for the CDU parliamentary group in the culture committee and was a member of the committee for climate protection, the environment, agriculture, nature and consumer protection.
