Monika Frass

Monika Frass (* 1961 ) is an Austrian ancient historian .

Life

From 1979 to 1986 she studied Ancient History and Classical Archeology at the University of Graz , where she received her doctorate in 1986 . At Ingomar Weiler she was a research assistant at the Institute for Ancient History in Graz from 1986 to 1992 and researched from 1988 to 1992 in the FWF project on source documentation on gymnastics and agonistics in antiquity . From 1992 to 2003 she was a contract assistant with Herbert Graßl at the Institute for Ancient History in Salzburg , where she qualified as a professor in 2002 . From 2003 to 2016 she was Associate Professor of Ancient History in Salzburg. She has been Professor of Ancient History and Classical Studies since 2016.

Her main research interests are Greek and Roman antiquity (social and economic history, cultural and mental history, political history and gender studies).
