Manfred Gabriel (born September 22, 1939 in Halle / Saale ) is a German painter and graphic artist .

Live and act

After attending secondary school, Manfred Gabriel completed an apprenticeship as a commercial applicant. During this time he had private drawing lessons from Otto Fischer-Lamberg in Halle. From 1959 to 1962 he studied at the technical school for applied arts in Magdeburg . An already prepared start of studies at the University of Industrial Design Halle, Burg Giebichenstein in Halle with Kurt Bunge failed due to his sudden departure to the FRG. In 1967 Manfred Gabriel received his diploma in painting at the Halle University of Industrial Design, Burg Giebichenstein. He studied with Hannes H. Wagner .

Since then he has been working as a freelance painter and graphic artist. Until 1970 he worked at the same time for the Magdeburg glass design cooperative. In 1972 he worked for several weeks with Otto Niemeyer-Holstein on Usedom. Until his death in 1984 there was a lively exchange between the two artists. These encounters and the almost annual summer stays in Prerow / Darß result in important impressions and impulses for artistic work.

Manfred Gabriel's main areas of work are panel paintings in the technique of oil on canvas and hand drawings in various techniques.
