Monocle is an international news and lifestyle magazine. It was launched by the Canadian journalist and entrepreneur Tyler Brûlé in 2007 and appears ten times a year. The publishing and editorial offices are based in London , the editorial team has offices in New York , Tokyo , Hong Kong and Zurich .

The magazine covers a wide range of topics from international relations to culture and design. The CBC reporter Harry Forestell described Monocle as "a mixture of foreign policy and vanity fair ", Gawker called it "a lifestyle magazine for young, elegant, business-oriented jet-setters".

The Monocle website provides content from the archive for paying subscribers. In addition, there are free podcast offers and the Monocolumn column , which is written by the magazine's editors and correspondents and appears daily. The audio offerings are also made available as a Monocle 24 live stream . Monocle products are available in an online shop , the result of design and fashion collaborations with labels such as Comme des Garçons, Delvaux, Kitsune, Orlebar Brown, Aspesi and Malmsten. These products are also available in Monocle Shops now in London, Los Angeles , Tokyo, Hong Kong and New York.

In June 2010, Monocle launched a newspaper called Monocle Mediterraneo . The newspaper counteracts the iPad trend of other publishers, which the editor-in-chief justified with the fact that an iPad “cannot be read on the beach”. In December 2010, the winter edition of the newspaper appeared with the title Monocle Alpino .
