The Leutkirch monolith is a boulder in Leutkirch , a district of Salem in the Lake Constance district in Baden-Württemberg . Possibly it is a menhir or another stone that was significant in prehistoric times.

Location and find history

The stone is right in the place. It stands in the churchyard of the branch church of the Assumption of Mary on a hill below the highest point.

description

No information is available about the material of the foundling. It has the shape of an irregular plate. Its height is 110 cm, its width 140 cm and its thickness 70 cm. There is no more precise information about the circumstances of the stone's discovery. A classification as a menhir is often considered in the literature, but is not certain, especially because boulders are relatively common north of Lake Constance.
