Theme and equipment

In Monster Match is a reaction and card game in which players try to include as many monsters and on this printed Donut points to collect and win the game.

In addition to a set of instructions, the game material consists of 55 monster cards, a “Nix” chip and two dice, one of which shows the numbers 0 to 5 and one of which shows two symbols for arms, legs and eyes. The game was released in a monster-shaped fabric bag with a zipper as a mouth opening into which the game material is inserted.

Style of play

Before the game starts, all monster cards are shuffled and placed in the center as a face-down draw pile. The “Nix” chip is placed in the middle of the table, around which 10 monster cards are laid out face up.

A starting player (according to the instructions of the player who last ate a donut) takes the two dice and throws them. Then all players try to find a monster that has the same number of body parts that were rolled and to tap on it. All other players try to find such a monster as well. The round ends when all players have tapped a corresponding monster or no such monster is on display. The players who have guessed a suitable monster receive it and place it in front of them. If not a single monster with the desired properties is on display after the roll, the player who first guessed the “Nix” chip receives the top card of the draw pile. Those who guessed the wrong monster or guessed incorrectly on the “Nix” chip must discard a monster card from their supply.

If at least one player was able to take a monster from the display, the dice are passed on and the next player rolls the dice without any new cards being laid out. If there was no matching monster on display and the round was won by the player on the “Nix” chip, the top 10 cards of the draw pile are placed face up on the display before the dice are passed on.

The game ends as soon as the draw pile is completely used up. As soon as this happens, the game is aborted and the remaining cards in the display are left on the table. The winner is the player with the most donuts on the monster cards he has won.
