The Mont Temetiu is the highest point on the island of Hiva Oa in the Marquesas archipelago in French Polynesia . It is located in the west of the island west of the main town Atuona and reaches a height of 1190 m above sea level. Thus, Hiva Oa is barely the third highest island within the Marquesas after Nuku Hiva with 1224 m and Ua Pou with 1230 m. The elevation is of volcanic origin and belongs to the "Marquesas linear volcanic chain", which has formed from a hotspot on the Pacific plate and moves at a speed of 103 to 118 mm per year in the west-northwest direction.
