The Montageeber or Eber Crane , shortly Eber is an approximately 58-meter-high crane assembly and a landmark in the Brandenburg Eberswalde . The crane was named after the city's heraldic animal and was built in 1954 as a model for a series of assembly cranes; a second example is in the port of Hamburg . It is a welded steel profile lattice structure of the type Portalwippdrehkran, which was patented in Eberswalde 1,932th This design makes it possible to maintain the hook height with changing distances of the crane arm. Movable counterweights kept the power required for the luffing gear low.

From 1954 to 1990 the boar was used as an assembly crane in crane construction in Eberswalde , it was operated electrically. The port cranes produced were assembled and dismantled in the factory. The basic construction of the cranes from Eberswalde corresponds to that of the boar to this day , only that the half-timbered construction was replaced by more effective but heavier sheet steel constructions as early as the 1960s.

After 1990 the assembly boar was no longer needed. In 2001 it was dismantled, moved to the edge of the company premises and reconstructed. There, the monument serves today as a vantage point from which, in good weather, you can see the Berlin television tower , 50 km away . The viewing platform is about 30 meters high. Today the crane belongs to the Eberswalde family garden .
