The Eberswalde Family Garden is a landscape park developed for the second Brandenburg State Horticultural Show in 2002 on the area of ​​an old rolling mill in Eberswalde and has served as a leisure and event area since then. The design was carried out by the landscape architecture firm Topotek 1 from Berlin. It combines industrial culture with garden art and recreational use .

The Finow valley is the oldest industrial landscape in the Mark Brandenburg . The formerly so-called “Brandenburg Wuppertal ” was created at the beginning of the 17th century in Eberswalde and Heegermühle (today E.-Finow) with the districts of Kupferhammer , Messingwerk and Eisenspalterei along the Finow Canal .

In 1998 a competition was held to redesign the former “old works” ( Finow rolling mill in iron cleavage). Finally, in 2002, the second Brandenburg State Garden Show was opened under the motto "Blossom Dreams on the Finow Canal".

The family park in the west of the Eberswalde city center is open from April 1st. until October 31 accessible against admission .

The gardens include, among other things, an Asian garden with bonsai and a model railway , a Japanese garden , a walk-in water garden known as the “Jesus Garden” , a pharmacy garden and a hornbeam hedge garden . The discotheque "Altwerk" on the site of the former pipeline construction near the Altwerk has nothing to do with the actual Altwerk, it just uses this name.
