The Monte Galaz (in Argentina Monte Galain ) is a 1036 m high and prominent mountain on the Graham Coast of Graham lands north of the Antarctic Peninsula . It rises between the mouths of the Lever and Cadman glaciers in the center of the shore of Beascoche Bay .
Chilean scientists named him after Ernesto L. Galaz Guzmán from the Fuerza Aérea de Chile , a participant in the 10th Chilean Antarctic Expedition (1955-1956). Argentine scientists named them, however, after Fransisco Galain, the second Heitzer on the corvette Uruguay in the rescue trip carried out in 1903 for the distressed participants in the Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1901-1903) under the direction of Otto Nordenskjöld .
