Montes Recti ( Latin : "Straight Mountains") is a mountain range on the earth-facing side of the moon . Its name was chosen by Birt for its shape and was endorsed by the International Astronomical Union in 1961 . The mountain range is located very north in the Mare Imbrium , at 48 ° N and 20 ° W, is around 90 kilometers long and up to 1,800 meters high.
In the eastern neighborhood, the Montes Teneriffe mountain group protrudes from the mare plain .
