Monzie Castle is one with battlements provided villa near the village Monzie in the Scottish administration unit Perth and Kinross .

history

The early 19th century house contains a tower house from the early 17th century, which was restored in the years 1785-1790. One entrance bears the year 1634 with the coat of arms of the Campbells and Grahams .

After a fire in 1908, the interior was renovated by architect Sir '' John Lorimer '' from 1908–1912. Two marble open fireplaces from 1725 survived the fire.

The three-story stone house has a rectangular floor plan and four round towers at the corners. The middle yoke is four stories high and has an outwardly curved facade.

Historic Scotland has listed Monzie Castle as a Category A Historic Building.

Gardens

The landscaped garden, which was laid out in the 18th century, was included in the Inventory of Gardens and Designed Landscapes of Scotland . A formal garden newly laid out in the 19th century is also located at the Tower House.

World Scout Moot

In 1939 the 3rd  World Scout Moot took place at Monzie Castle. 3500  scouts from 42 nations took part.
