Moody man (* 20th century , actually: Kenny Dixon Jr. ) is an American Soul / House - DJ and music producer from Detroit .

life and work

Kenny Dixon Jr. has been a Prince fan since childhood . He dreamed of starting a band with which he wanted to connect Jimi Hendrix and the funk band Parliament . He began his musical career as a drummer in his father's jazz band. From the start, Dixon, who was called “Moody” as a teenager, made it a point to stand in the tradition of black music and to carry this legacy into the present. In 1994, under the stage name Moodymann, his first house track "I Like It" appeared on his own label KDJ. In 1997 his debut album SilentIntroduction came out on Carl Craig's label Planet E Communications , further albums on Peacefrog Records , KDJ and Mahogani Music, which he also runs, followed. Moodymann is characterized by his house-techno hybrid sound based on soul and jazz samples and the combination of analog and digital recording techniques.

He shuns the public and refuses interviews.
