The Moore River is a river in the Wheatbelt region in the Australian state of Western Australia .

Its source is 162 m near Walebing and flows west over the Edengerie Cascades and through the northern edge of the Moore River National Park . After 193 kilometers it flows into the Indian Ocean near Guilderton .
The Moore River encompasses a drainage basin that stretches from Three Springs to Guilderton and has a total area of 13,540 square kilometers. It has nine sub-basins and a number of tributaries and lakes along its course.
The land along the Moore River is characterized by wide arable fields, but increasingly also by horticulture and tree plantations. The Guilderton Estuary is usually closed during the summer months when a sandbar is formed due to insufficient water supply .
Surname
The Moore River is named after George Fletcher Moore , who discovered this river in 1835 during an expedition in Western Australia.
