The Moores Peak is a mountain about 370 m high on Livingston Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It towers on the west bank and near the head of False Bay on the Hurd Peninsula .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named him in 1990 Captain Prince B. Moores (1800 – after 1850), ship's master of the George Porter from Nantucket , who operated between 1821 and 1822 in the waters around the South Shetland Islands.
