The Mooring Point is a headland to the east of Signy Island in the archipelago of the South Orkney Islands . It is located between Drying Point and Knife Point on the shores of Factory Cove on the south side of Borge Bay .
The headland's name appears for the first time on a map drawn up in 1927 after a rough survey of Borge Bay by scientists from the British Discovery Investigations . The name probably goes back to whalers who described that they used the headland as a landing stage.
