The magazine was published from 1993 by Birgit Dahlke , Klaus Michael , Lutz Seiler and Peter Walther in Wilhelmshorst near Potsdam , where the editorial office ( Peter-Huchel -Haus) was also located. The title was borrowed from poems by Nadja Gogolin and Lutz Seiler.

Next in succession even laid journals of the literary scene of the East Berlin Prenzlauer Berg appearing standing and self-published, the magazine since 1996 was Gerhard Wolf Publishing Janus Press (Berlin) released.

The magazine Moosbrand stopped its publication after six issues .
