Peter Walther (born December 27, 1965 in Berlin ) is a German philologist and literary historian .

Life

Walther studied German and arts education at the Ernst-Moritz-Arndt University of Greifswald , the Humboldt University of Berlin and the University of Duisburg-Essen and was born in Berlin in 1995 with the dissertation Der Totentanz in St. Marien zu Berlin. Image and text about Dr. phil. PhD. From 1990 to 2000 he wrote regularly for the culture page of the Berlin newspaper "tageszeitung". Together with Hendrik Röder, he heads the office of the Brandenburg Literature Office in Potsdam. Walther is co-founder of the literature portal literaturport (together with Ulrich Janetzki ), which offers information on various aspects of literary history and literary present in Berlin and Brandenburg . Together with Peter Böthig , he set up the Zeitstimmen portal with information on literature and everyday history on over 2,000 locations in the Berlin-Brandenburg region. Walther published on writers such as Johann Wolfgang von Goethe , Günter Eich , Peter Huchel and Thomas Mann as well as on the history of photography, especially on the history of early color photography. In addition, from 1996 to 1998 he was co-editor of the now closed literary magazine Moosbrand. New texts (together with Birgit Dahlke, Klaus Michael and Lutz Seiler ).
